In our previous lives I was a primary school teacher and Mal learnt the art of cooking whilst in the RAF. When looking for our second hotel business on a freezing cold January day trip to Yorkshire we strayed across Scarborough and agreed to buy the Raincliffe Hotel later that day. We felt being a short 10 minute walk to the Scarborough Spa and just 7 minutes to the beach was a great benefit to guests.
Looking around Scarborough for the first time: the bays, cliff lifts, gardens and architecture we could not believe that we had somehow missed this gem of a place until that day.
Taking a leap of faith with the Raincliffe which was in a sorry state is something we have never regretted. Operating as hoteliers since 2004, we fully appreciate why Scarborough is such a special place for so many of our customers.
We wish all our guests to experience a truly comfortable, relaxed and informal stay with a dose of good food and good humour. A hotel is only a reflection on the people that visit it. In a nutshell, we have a nice hotel for nice people.
