Access to all main routes: Pickering, York, Whitby, Goathland and Filey is simple from Valley Road, making the Raincliffe ideal as a touring base to visit the North Yorkshire Moors and Coastline. The Raincliffe is the perfect place to stay, whether you are visiting the area, attending conference, on business or one of our many foreign visitors to Anglolang Academy of English.

The Raincliffe is a stunning Victorian residence that has operated as a hotel for over 50 years. It was built in 1888 and retains much of its period charm. Relax in spacious and light south facing ground floor public rooms overlooking the hotel's extensive gardens and sun patio. Dine in an elegant dining room - perfect for enjoying a generous, FRESHLY cooked English breakfast, also choose from grapefruit, cereals, toast and preserves. We also offer a choice of home cooked evening meals using fresh ingredients served nightly between 5.30pm to 6.00pm; times can be adjusted to meet guests needs and PRE BOOKING is required. We are licensed until 10.00pm. Please note: we are a 100% non smoking premises and that we are unable to accommodate children under 8 years and we do not allow pets, only guide dogs. We cannot offer one night group bookings at the weekends, and this hotel does not welcome stag or hen parties. A pick up/drop off service is offered by prior arrangement from the station.

GREEN POLICY

We are committed to being as ‘green’ as possible and to do what we can to sustain both the environment and the local economy. Some of the steps we are taking are listed below:

Brand new boilers to reduce our energy consumption.
Most of our products are sourced locally and we have the vast majority of all our purchases delivered in order to avoid using the car.
As part of a complete re-roof 30mm depth of roof insulation was installed to make this 120 year old building more energy efficient.
Double-glazing is installed throughout to minimize heat loss.
CFL light bulbs are used throughout to provide low energy lighting and help cut our carbon emissions.
We recycle everything possible, at present 80% of our waste.
We encourage guests to leave their car parked up once they arrive and to either walk or use public transport; timetables and guided walk information is available.
New, smaller toilet cisterns to reduce water consumption.

We are attempt to follow the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle way of thinking, and are always looking to improve, for example, Katherine recently attended a ‘Green Advantage’ course as part of developing a long term ‘Green Tourism Strategy’ for The Raincliffe.
